I am also very interested on a IDL Version for Linux. On the University
of Paderborn we have good experience with Linux and try to use
Linux-Pc's as a full workplace.
I called CreaSo, the german supporter of IDL, for a Linux Version. I
here nearly the same as you. CreaSo is not interested on Linux. They
look to the system market but they wait.

We need IDL-Licences for teaching on the University. But it is
impossible to get a Campus-Licence. So we had tp buy ca 100. Licences;
that is impossible. Have you any experience with very big licences in
the teaching area?
