I find that Microsoft Word also likes to put the printer
into "bankruptcy mode" in which image files are representedd
by special characters (e.g., $%@), two to a page, for
hundreds upon hundreds of pages.

By the time you realize what is going on, you
have to make another trip to the office supply
store for another case of paper. :-(
