You are probably remembering correctly (although I don't know
what the hell you are talking about). :-)

When you are done with your plots, however, you could
also just open a small pixmap window and write some text
there to flip the font back to whatever:

Window, /Pixmap, /Free, XSize=50, YSize=50
XYOutS, 0, 0, '!3Nonsense'
WDelete, !D.Window
