David - I had the same problem reading PDF files with Acroread 4.0
(that is, getting a blank screen when the browser opened some PDFs,
while others were okay). When I upgraded to Acroread 6.0 this problem
went away, so my best guess is that it has to do with some
compatibility issue between newer PDFs and the older Acroread.
