We had been using IDL for Windows until we snatched PV-Wave or Linux
from the net. The products are comparable, but the environment is so
much better that we preferred PV-Wave/Linux over IDL/Windows.
On April 18, we called VNI to find out what we needed to do when the
time was up. It turns out that VNI had no plan. The customer and
sales reps told me that marketing just wanted to see what happened,
and would form a plan later.
The upshot is that everyone who got addicted to PV-Wave/Linux is SOL.
It seems the better thing to do would be to make the demo product
remain functional until a commercial replacement was available.
RSI is very evasive about a Linux port, and they don't seem to have
scheduled a release :-(
Maybe if more people indicate a willingness to back up their queries
in the form of purchases and support contracts, these companies will
produce. . .
Cheers,
David.
