Is this perhaps why _*ALL*_ map_proj* examples in the documentation are
using object graphics?


Extracting something useful from the documentation sometimes has more in
common with theology or astrology than science and engineering. Most of
the time, I search this group, Davids exellent book (sorry Liam, haven't
got around to buy one of yours yet!) and some triendly IDL websites to
find out how things work.
