Yes, I feel confident that ENVI does it correctly. And I
also feel confident that I cannot do it correctly, given
the information in the file and IDL's map projection
routines. So, we are at an impasse. We have not heard from
the ENVI guys. :-)

P.S. I can also align the map, but only by moving the
reported corner pixel positions slightly, which I have
no logical reason to do. But sometimes logic is the
least helpful thing when it comes to computer programs. :-)
