There are plenty beautiful historical places and citys nearby Madrid:
- Toledo: this is a beautiful city and was the old capital of the
kingdom of
Castilla. definitely something not to be missed...
- Avila
-Alcala de Henares
-Cuenca

Some of these places have also 'paradores'. These are hotels from the
state,
that usually are allocated in beautiful historic places, sometimes
castles or
monasterys, ej, the 'parador' in Toledo..
