It can be done. I did it. I had a legit reason at the time, which
was to recover some routines whose source I had lost... but then it
became a challenge in its own right. The format was not particularly
difficult to decipher: it was almost a direct translation of IDL
structure into a byte-code format, with special records that described
variables, commons, etc. However, since then, I am led to believe
that RSI has encrypted save-files with code (although I haven't
checked).
