I have a colleague who is trying to use the IDL library of routines to
analyze IUE (UV stellar spectra) data. I downloaded the latest IUE library
for her, and now it seems that every routine requires that the structure
variable !iuer be defined somewhere. However, I can't find any documentation
that explains how this variable gets set or what values it should have. I've
done 'grep -I \!iuer *.pro and I get thousands of hits, but none of the
routines has a helpful name such as 'iue_startup.pro' or 'iue_init.pro' -
they just contain helpful messages that tell you that you'd better have all
of these variables set to something.

Help, anyone? My friend will be grateful!
