My Apologies, Woody pointed out to me the write_gif.pro routine in the IDL
userlib calls a procedure called ENCODE_GIF which isn't available as IDL
source. So write_gif.pro isn't usable in WAVE. The routines tiff_write.pro
and write_pict.pro *will* work in WAVE, however (I think some minor mods
to write_pict.pro are required).
