5492 *.pro file - 5.5 minutes - WinXP 2GB memory (very little load)
for comparison: emacs/idl-pvwave found library(390) user(15511)
system(2469) [not sure exactly what those numbers mean] in 1.5
minutes!!

I think I know which one I like the best...
