Windows DLL to call a Fortran function [message #5781]

I need a DLL to call a function in Microsoft Fortran5 (in DOS) from IDL,
via CALL_EXTERNAL. The .c example given in the IDL documentation is not
applicable. Does anyone have a simple recipe that a non-Windows-literate
user could follow?
