Are administrator rights required to update Eclipse/IDL Workbench on any
platform? I currently run as administrator on my windows machine (which
is the standard configuration for a few more weeks) so I haven't run
into this.

Changes in how US federal civilian IT systems are managed will require
an update mechanism (if provided w/in the application) that can be run
as a standard user. Waivers for applications failing to meet this
criteria will be granted in the short term (even MS office fails at this
right now). Longer term, vendors will have to change their applications
or face issues selling to US Federal agencies.

On a related note, has any .gov users tried running the last few
versions of IDL under the FDCC? Any problems? We're in the early
stages of rolling out FDCC and I will be setting up a machine next month
to test the various applications used by our group (IDL being one).
