It's nice sometimes to see an IDL error message I've never seen
before!

For the record:
IDL> FOR i =0,10 DO i=long(i)
% Type of FOR statement index variable I may not be changed.
% Execution halted at: $MAIN$ 1 /tmp/idltemp45235Sz
