Hi,

Given that you have the [x,y] coordinates for the rings, why don't you
try using IDL's built-in INT_TABULATED which should be fine for your
task.

As James points out, you'll need to know how the two curves are
registered in the images. If you can't "line up" comparable x
locations then you have a serious problem.
