Why ruin your weekend, Reimar? ;-)
More bells and whistles, basically. Programming
via buttons that will duplicate, and mostly have the same
function as, the buttons already on your task bar. There
seems to be a concerted effort to fill the Workbench
interface up with enough junk to shrink the edit window
to the size of a postage stamp. The idea, I guess, is
that if you can't even *find* the edit window, you might
have no choice but to use iTools.
But this is probably just my cynical take on things.
You would be better off to consult the source. I think
the presentation ITTVIS made to the last User's Group
meeting is available on the ITTVIS web site.
I'm sorry to say, but I think the person who is
currently implementing the ITTVIS web page is the same
person in charge of future IDL development at ITTVIS.
At least the results feel similarly unusable to me.
Cheers,
David
P.S. Don't mind me. This has not been my very best week
with IDL. After spending two days trying to get a simple
top-level base widget to resize correctly on UNIX, and facing
more of the same this morning, I would be content if the
future direction of IDL just involved fixing some things
I actually use. :-(
