We have a need to process large (up to 14GB) image sequences into
portable (i.e. MPEG) animations that can be used to visualize
collected data segments and processed image results. Currently we are
using MatLab to create the animation which is then converted to MPEG
by a user-contributed mpgwrite module. We are RAM limited since the
movie must be first created by MatLab and then crunched in entirety by
the mpgwrite module.
We need to be able to process image data from disk and recursively
create the MPEG animation.
1) Is there any commercial off-the-shelf visualization software that
would provide this capability for a Windows NT pentium-pro
workstation?
2) Is there any public domain source code for recursively creating the
MPEG (C, Fortran, PV-Wave, MatLab) ?

Any tips would be appreciated.
