Since I've been doing these blended images a LOT
lately, I decided to update these pages just now.
There is now a link to a simple BlendImage program
that can do an alpha blending of any two 24-bit
images.

If you don't have 24-bit images, you can do what
I did to create the example on the web page. I simply
took my 8-bit MODIS images and displayed them in IDL
graphics windows with their respective color tables.
Then I used TVREAD to create the foreground and
background 24-bit images I wanted to blend with
BlendImage. You can find the details at the end of
this article:
