FYI mapx was very easy to install (OS X Intel). Download, un-tar.gz,
and then just "make allall TOPDIR=/path/to/install and it built and
installed.

Now figuring out how to use it... I didn't see a lot of documentation,
and as you said it took a few days of in-person tutorials.
