What I did was I opened the TIFF file in Frank
Warmerdam's FW_TOOLS application and I looked to see
how he was interpreting the GeoTIFF structure.
If I hadn't insisted on IDL all the damn day, I
probably could have figured it out a bit sooner. :-(
