^:that indeed, the only currently available manual on IDL was the RSI
^:Users and Reference guide. However, I was told that someone from IDL
^:(I forgot the name) was involved in writing a more user-friendly book.

They have published at least two other manuals, both based on their own training
courses. I don't know if they were a "limited edition", but we got them through
the usual IDL distributers.
They are:
"Learing IDL: An interactive Training Course" and
"Building Graphical User Interfaces: An interactive Training Course"
