Well, I don't know if that's of any use for you, but I just came across
following page http://www.ncl.ucar.edu/Applications/polyg.shtml#ex1
There you can find climdiv_polygons.nc. It seem's that there are
Lat/Lon-Points of the polygons of the states in there.
