Also very useful from the solarsoft library
is "which.pro"

ftp://sohoftp.nascom.nasa.gov/solarsoft/gen/idl/help/which.p ro

IDL>which,'mrdfits',/all
[...]/ssw/gen/idl/fits/mrdfits.pro
[...]/ssw/gen/idl_libs/astron/fits/mrdfits.pro

This program will print the paths to *all* the
programs named mrdfits.pro (for very popular
programs I sometimes get 3 or 4 hits).
Then you just have to figure which of the 3 ones
you really really want to use (oten they are identical,
sometimes not).
