Yeah, I sell books for a living, so I have more
modest machines. :-)

My two graphics cards are a NVIDIA Quadro FX 580 on my desktop
and an NVIDIA NVS 135M on my laptop, both updated now
to the latest drivers.

I note that if I run the IDL 32-bit application that the
program crashes IDL with a fatal error, but doesn't take
down my entire machine. I guess that's progress. :-(

My IDL 8.1 was installed on top of IDL 8.0.1 (which I was
never successful in using for more than 10 minutes at
a time), which was installed along with IDL 7.1. I guess
I may as well try doing a clean install from disk. This
is the second report I have that it is working on other
Windows 7, 64-bit OS.

Cheers,

David
