IDL 8.1 had some issues with the licence manager under lion ... otherwise it seems to me mostly worked fine...
As there is already IDL 8.2 which is as far as i know also qualified for OSX Lion i would assume it means IDL 8.2 shall be fine...

WRT to the X11 issue, .. its always been recommended to use the Xquartz installtion as Apple isnt up to date with X11 anyways ...


Needs to be all tested though ..
