We're planning to update our HDF5 library to 1.8.10 (or a more recent version, depending on timing) in IDL 8.3. We're also looking at updating the API to 1.8 (we currently use 1.6) which includes the H5P interface.

May I ask, please, where you're using the H5P interface? I'd like to understand better how/where it's used.
