They must be busy with other things, like the SVN bug I mentioned

If I recap what I read on the newsgroup there are three issues with IDL
8.2.3:
- FILE_GZIP does not behave like expected and like it's brother FILE_ZIP
- SVN plugin not working properly
- plot(/OVERPLOT) introduces a new behaviour (which is not to expect
from a "bugfix" release)

It is clearly impossible to avoid bug-free releases. The same occurs for
open-source projects. However, the time needed to correct these and
providing either a patch or a quick bugfix release should be as short as
possible. But let's wait and see!
