Yes. I wouldn't put too much faith in the documentation. :-)

Can you show us the code you are trying to use and give us some quick
explanation of what you are trying to do with it?

The problem, probably, is that shaded surfaces are returned as images
(although it is hard to realize this). But, I never admit defeat until
I've chewed on it for a day or two. :-)
