May I ask why you want a mirrored map?

Did I understand well that you want italy to look like this:

/ /
/ /
/ /

instead of the usual:

\ \
\ \
\ \

?

in this case the first thing that comes to my mind would be to
*actually* mirror the whole image once it is created and add the text at
the right place afterwards ;-)
