Hello,

The most complete reference on this is Ronn Kling's book (http://www.rlkling.com/calling-c-and-c--.htm). Michael Galloy's book, Modern IDL (http://modernidl.idldev.com/) has a chapter on external development. Coyote has an article about the use of call_external (https://www.idlcoyote.com/tips/calling_c.html), There are also some examples in IDL's External Development Guide ( http://www.exelisvis.com/docs/External_Development_Guide.htm l).
