Yup. I've got a few complaints about a few things, but there's a huge amount
of stuff in IDL which works just fine.

Actually, I've got several data browsing widgets which are absolutely
essential. More flexible than scripts, less tedious than typing at the
command line, if I need a new feature I can add it in a few lines. I don't
think I could have carried out my research (sifting through megabytes
of radar data) without widget tools. All built without a single expensive
training course.
