syntax error with hash [message #94555]

Hi,

I am running IDL 8.5.1. on a recent MacBookPro (10.12). I want to create a hash, however, when I do this I get a syntax error:

IDL> test_hash = hash()

test_hash = hash()
^
% Syntax error.

Does anybody have a clue why this does not work?
