Folks,

I have been getting a LOT of supportive e-mail
commiserating with my frustration with the IDL 8.1
graphics system and offering further examples
of defects which will keep me busy for some
weeks to come. (I can't call this system
"New Graphics," because I think they will be
heading for the "Old Graphics" pile fairly
quickly, and I am having a harder and harder
time calling them Function Graphics with
Coyote jabbering in my ear.)

But, I will say in the interest of full disclosure
that my interest in this graphics system was peaked
when on the very same day someone in this newsgroup
called the graphics system "convenient" and I
received a bill for my annual maintenance contract.

I don't know if this was coincidence or divine
intervention. But I do know it has saved me
a bundle of money. :-)

Cheers,

David

P.S. This almost sounds like another Onion article,
doesn't it?

Whoops! Forgot to add my P.S.

P.S. I'll be out of town for most of a week,
so those of you who LIKE this graphics system
can rest easy for a few days. ;-)

Cheers,

David

Coyote and I have reached a compromise. I'll
call this system Dysfunctional Graphics 8.1 and
he will stop tipping his friends at The Onion
off about developments on this newsgroup. Plus,
I've asked him to *please* turn the sarcasm
down a notch. Who knows... :-(

Cheers,

David
