external string EXP for MATH_DOIT (ENVI) [message #79683]

Hi all,
even if this is a problem related to ENVI I was wondering if perhaps
someone had already similar experience on this topic:
I'm trying to give as string expression for MATH_DOIT a string that
has to be read from a metadata file (.txt).
I'm able to extract the string to be passed and when I give it as
input for the EXP keyword it seems to create the image.
But when I try opening it I got the following error

Error: "POLY_2D: String expression not allowed in this context: ARR."
The result may be invalid

Does somebody know any workaround for this error??
