Folks,

OK, more problems. After installing updates and new software
all day yesterday on my new hard drive, I finally got around
to installing IDL 8.2. (IDL 7.1.2 runs great!) I installed
IDL 8.2 from disk, then I installed the IDL 8.2.1 update from
a file I downloaded. All seemed well.

Then I tried to run IDL 8.2.1, and I was informed I didn't
have a JAVA Run-Time environment on my machine. (I did, but
apparently IDL 8.2.1 couldn't find it for some reason.)

So, I made sure I had a 64-bit JAVA RTE installed, and
tried IDL 8.2.1 again. Still no go. So, I decided I would
delete the installation of IDL and try it again. I first
deleted the IDL 8.2.1 update. No problem. Then I tried to
delete the IDL 8.2 installation. I can't do it!!

Things *appear* to work, I get the right messages and I
have a final screen that tells me it has worked, but the
files aren't gone, and IDL 8.2 appears in my list of installed
programs. I've tried to delete 5 times now with no luck. :-(

So, now IDL 8.2 doesn't run and I can't delete it.

What did I ever do to deserve this!?

Cheers,

David
