Hi - I want to include different color text elements in a plot legend (using Coyote graphics). I have the problem of the text not standing out very clearly for particular colors (the color table is fixed so I can't simply pick one with better contrast). What I'd like is to outline the color text in black, more or less equivalent to plotting an open circle symbol in black and then overplotting it with a filled circle symbol to get a colored circle outlined in black. I've played with choosing different types of fonts without success. Is there another approach I might try?

Thanks.

Have you tried making a legend in black, then with a slightly smaller text in the color? This will work for short text strings (a few characters). If too long, the characters will slowly get misaligned.

Alternatively, have you tried creating a shadow effect? This is done by using the same size font buy shifting the black background one slightly (down and right I think looks best). String length wont matter in this case.

Here is an example of this effect (the "N"): https://imgur.com/a/oDaR5

Hi Ben! Thank you! The "shadow" approach will work well for me. I really appreciate the suggestion.
