This is a one-day, hands-on, immersion into the use of the CORBA
standard targeted at
producing a federation of distributed and interacting components. The
class will use network
based computing facilities to work through a problem, from analysis and
design to construction
and debugging. The students will program clients and servers over a
standard CORBA 2.2
environment using either Java or C programming as the implementation
language (other bindings
are possible with approval by the instructor). Topics covered include
use of Rational Rose for
component analysis, design, and construction (configuration, automated
code generation,
round-trip engineering, and sound interface design and definition);
CORBA environment
installation and configuration; CORBA client side programming; CORBA
server hands-on nature
of this workshop creates a fast paced, and dynamic learning environment
maximizing on time
