could someone recommend a book or web page that has a good introduction
to using widgets in IDL?

Play tennis, huh? And what if a suggestion to use "heap_gc" slips
through? Oh boy, we'd kiss that cash a big good-buy then :-)

P.S. At least I got away with messing up the widgets. I can copy-paste
some worthwhile stuff that from David's old book (or online help for
that matter). I am sure Ben can tackle the all-new Object part. Lets
call the book "IDL by Dummies" or "You don't know Jack 5.3" :-)
