MAIN programs and CPU time [message #29850] Thu, 21 March 2002 02:44

Hi,

The problem is quite simple: I want to evaluate the CPU time used by a
MAIN-level program. I share the CPU with other users, and the memory
and CPU load are quite variable, so calls to Systime or the timer.pro
routine in the jhuapl library won't do, since they will provide me
with the real time elapsed, not the CPU time. I have tried the IDL
profiler, but I can't get it to recognize the routines I use (yes, I
already tried capitalizing the module name), and it doesn't seem to
work for MAIN-level programs. The profiler isn't very well documented,
so there might be something in it I'm missing ;b . Calls to the linux
command 'time' won't do the job either, I would have to give up my
beloved IDLWAVE...

Can anybody help?

Thanks and best regards,
