Folks,

Andrew Cool points out an interesting study that compares
the remuneration of researchers in the public and private
sectors in countries around the world. We don't have it
too bad in the United States, but Austria, The Netherlands,
Israel and Switzerland are places you might consider
working. China is out, at least for the time being.
Check back in 20 years when they are on the verge of taking
over the world. :-)

Interesting reading:

A jacket in 107.6F heat? I guess you could wear one, but they'd take you away...

42C? For those of us like me who, after 35 years as a meteorologist,
are still Metric Impaired, do you need a jacket?

David,

You neglect to point out that Australia outperforms the USA amongst
the non-EU countries.
Page 55 of the report shows average Oz income at E64000 compared to
E60000 for the USA.

The links below might be of interest to people seeking a career in the
sun. Although I should point out that
today's forecast for my city, Adelaide, is 42C. It's now 10:39a.m. and
already 39.2C

But then, I've already been down to the coast this morning and enjoyed
the long, white sandy beach and a swim.
