Greetings
While using the library routine CURVEFIT, IDL kept hanging
(IDL 4.0.1 running under Windows95). Eventually I traced the
problem to the following line
res = nr_machar(DOUBLE=double)
which gets called only if numerical derivatives are required.
Presumably this does the Numerical Recipes calculations for
machine constants, but since it's not mentioned in the on-line
help (or the hardcopy documentation) it's tough to be sure.
Can anyone reproduce this problem on any other platform, or
confirm it under Windows95?
