Hi Daniel, Welcome to the newsgroup. I use the search facility with
Dejanews when I come across a problem in IDL. There are a lot of answers and
methods for doing things which I have found useful. I recall seeing a list
of bookmarks to useful Web paged somewhere on this newsgroup. Maybe a search
for 'bookmark' would find it.
Since David Fanning was too modest to mention, he has written a book which I
think is very good, especially if one is just starting with IDL. I have found
it easier to use than the 5 volume set which comes with IDL.
Have Fun!
Rose

Just send a small donation of $1000 to ....
If you just sent this message, you've already joined. It's an open
newsgroup, no moderation, no signup.

I have a very crude archive at <ftp://ftp.ivsoftware.com/pub/outgoing/>.
You'll also find the FAQ at <http://www.ivsoftware.com/pub/idl_faq.html>.
I am in the process of getting a newsfeed to do this properly, but have
had trouble with the free sources. I'll have to go to a commercial
newsfeed supplier if I don't get this straightened out in the next couple
of weeks. Any volunteeers who can provide access to their newsfeed server?
Welcome to the group. Just a quick warning about a guy named David Fanning
whose name you might see once in a blue moon on this newsgroup. Give him
plenty of distance and don't visit his site at <http://www.dfanning.com/>

Hurray! We need some new blood around here. Do you know
anything about color? We'll put you in charge of answering
all the questions that begin "I can't seem to get any
colors..." :-)

By doing whatever it is you did to post this article. Having the
courage to hit that "Send" button is all it takes to join!
> 2. Is there an archive that I can search?
Until Mike Schienle gets his archive set up, the best
archive is at Dejanews:
http://www.dejanews.com/
Just search for "comp.lang.idl-pvwave".
> Thanks for your help.
Glad to have you!
Cheers,
David
P.S. "Device, Decomposed=0" in case you were having some
problems with that color question. Most people just starting
out with IDL do. :-)
