You should have a look at the online help for file_search

files = FILE_SEARCH(Dir_Specification, Recur_Pattern,count=n)
for i=0,n-1 do begin
x=your_reading_routine(files[i])
result=total(x)/number_of_datasets
print,result
endfor
END
