Besides looking at the license file(s) in the installation, you could
programmatically call the LMGR function :

IDL> result = LMGR ("idl_gif", VERSION='1.0')

"result" will be 0 if it is not licensed, 1 if the GIF feature is
licensed. You might want to also test for the "idl_tifflzw" feature
depending on what you're doing.
