I just received the new IDL Student Edition for Linux. I also just
discovered this group after having used IDL for many years (what does
that say about still being a student?).

The student version seems good, so far, with none of the restrictions
(except for GIF and MPEG) that were present in past editions. My
question, however, is more of an annoyance than anything. I post here
since there is no technical support included with the product and the
problem is really trivial.

There is an annoying 'splash screen' that persists for many (~15)
seconds stating that I may not use the student version for Government
or Commercial gain, etc. Is there a way to disable this, perhaps
change the length of duration, or is this the price paid for getting
IDL for $79?

Cheers,
