Hi! I posted this on the IDL group, but I thought I would try this
one too...

Does anyone have experience with installing IDL on a Mac? I am
trying to get IDL 6.3 running on an Intel Mac and it is having trouble
starting the license server. The error it gives says that it can't
open the port (1700). I tried changing the port and got the same
error. That makes it sound like a firewall issue (or something
similar), but the firewall is not running. Anyone have any
suggestion?
