At some point, you might check out these websites for IDL code that is
(very) useful. Astronomers/astrophysicists LOVE IDL, so they have
written a bunch of stuff to make your life easier. Some good links...

I never found the books helpful (but thats just me...). The IDL help
menu sucks (except if you have an early version), so here is a link to
a list of all the IDL routines that you can search using your web
browser.
