thanks for the link. i wrote a *pro* to read my shape files (my shape
files are polylines):
PRO TURIVER_read_shap, EVENT

file=dialog_pickfile(filter='*.shp')
myshape=OBJ_NEW('idlffshape',file)
myshape->getproperty,attribute_name=thenames
thenames=strupcase(strtrim(thenames,2))
entities=ptr_new(/allocate_heap)
*entities=myshape->getentity(/all,/attribute)
obj_destroy,myshape
heap_free,entities
print,entities

END

it reads the data but i can't put attribute table in an array. also i
dont know how i plot the entites (in plot or imap or map_set ....)
