I've always been a big fan of the atv package (http://
www.physics.uci.edu/~barth/atv/) for looking at 2-D images in IDL.
The problem I'm having is that it hangs if I try to run it from inside
a procedure (say a procedure or function crashes, or I put in a "stop"
command). It pops open a window and displays the image, but then I
get the idl hour-glass and I can't change the stretch or range on the
image. I'd like to be able to use atv for debugging when things
crash, any ideas out there on why it hangs?
